Tour Report - ENSEMBLE ESPERANZA in Dubrovnik

31. July 2019

Monday, July 29th

The musicians of the Ensemble Esperanza travel from all over the world to meet at the airport in Split. Fortunately, all flights are punctual, although everyone comes from a different direction: London, Munich, Zagreb, Milan, Berlin, Vienna ...The Croatia tour can start. The musicians reach Dubrovnik by bus and immediately head to the concert hall, where Game of Thrones scenes were filmed and Dubrovnik became a crowd puller. The young talents are greeted with a projection of their ensemble photo and concert announcement at the Dubrovnik Festival on the facades of the old town houses where everybody can see.

Tuesday, July 30th

After breakfast, a beautiful walk through Dubrovnik's beautiful Old Town, flooded with tourists in the early morning, leads to the music school where rehearsals take place as the concert hall is a museum during the day. Bernd Woldt from 1 FL TV accompanies the musicians exclusively and uses the breaks for musician photos and portraits in the streets and on the stairs of the old town. On every wall of the building a poster of the Ensemble Esperanza denounces, so that the anticipation of the evening concert at this sight is growing steadily. At 9:30 pm the time has come: concert opening. It is a wonderful, balmy summer evening, the city is pulsating and the southern flair is pouring on everyone. The historic concert hall Rector's Palace Dubrovnik, which overlooks the stars above, fills up to the last seat. A brilliant concert begins: the outstanding pianist Dmytro Choni enchants with the Mendelssohn Piano Concerto No. 2, Op. 21 and is accompanied by the ENSEMBLE ESPERANZA. Then the ensemble shine with Komitas Vardapet's miniatures, the Serenade for string orchestra Op.20 and the St. Paul s Suite by Gustav Holst. The young talents have conquered the hearts of the listeners once again and the encore does not have to wait long for unending applause.
