Ganna Lysenko

Viola

Ganna Lysenko was born in 1990 in Lugansk (Ukraine) into a family of musicians. From 2001 to 2005 she attended the Music School in Lugansk, and moved on to study viola at the Lugansk State Institute of Culture and Arts in 2005, where she received a diploma for young talented students in 2009. From 2009 to 2011 she studied at the “Kotlyarevsky” National University of Arts in Kharkiv with Professor N. Udovitshenko, at the Academy of Music in Zagreb under Professor A. Milošev, with K. Budnik-Galazka at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, and with Professor M. Kugel at the Maastricht Conservatory. She is currently studying with A. Zemtsov at the “Haute École de Musique de Lausanne” (HEMU).

The young violist has attended many masterclasses, for example with Thomas Riebl, Patrick Jüdt, Hatto Beyerle, Lars Anders Tomter, Wilfried Strehle and Kim Kashkashian. She also receives a scholarship from the International Academy of Music in Liechtenstein, and participates in the intensive music weeks there.

Ganna Lysenko has already won prizes at numerous competitions in Ukraine. In 2012 she was awarded 3rd prize at the “B. Papandopulo” Croatian national competition (the 1st and 2nd prizes were not awarded). In 2014 she won a prize at the “52nd Croatian National Competition for Students of Music and Dance” and received the “Golden Award” at the “6th International Music Competition and Festival for Soloists and Chamber Groups Svirél” in Slovenia, and the 2nd prize at the “Premio Francesco Geminiani” in Verona. At the 53rd International Music Competition “Beethoven’s Hradec” she won the 3rd prize. She was also a finalist at the “23rd International Johannes Brahms Competition” in Pörtschach.

Ganna Lysenko has performed as a soloist with the Lugansk Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Kurt Schmid (Vienna) and with the “Zagreb Soloists” chamber orchestra. She has already been invited to participate in various chamber music festivals, including the FESTIVAL NEXT GENERATION Bad Ragaz (Switzerland), Musik Campus RheinMain – Bell’Arte Frankfurt RheinMain 2014 (Germany), the 6th Festival Musica Maxima in Zagreb (Croatia), the Festival MusicConnects in Bad Ragaz (Switzerland) and the chamber music festival in Hoorn (the Netherlands). She performed together with Zakhar Bron at Interlaken Classics.

Ganna Lysenko has gained orchestral experience in the Liechtenstein Symphony Orchestra, the Croatian National Theatre Orchestra in Zagreb, the Zagreb Chamber Orchestra and in the No Borders Orchestra (NBO). She was also principal violist in the Mediterranean Youth Orchestra at the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence. She is currently a member of the ENSEMBLE ESPERANZA, which is made up of scholarship holders from the International Academy of Music in Liechtenstein, and has been a member of the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra since 2016. Ganna Lysenko was principal violist at a concert at the Verbier Festival. She is currently playing as an apprentice with the Tonhalle Orchestra Zürich.
